B Bar Ranch is nestled among the 10,000-foot peaks of the Gallatin mountain range in the Tom Miner Basin, which sweeps from Yellowstone National Park’s northern boundary to intersect with Montana’s fabled Paradise Valley. The ranch is located at the upper end of the Basin – nine miles up the gravel Tom Miner Creek Road from State Highway 89. The turnoff is 36 miles south of Livingston and 17 miles north of Gardiner. The elevation at Highway 89 is about 5,000 feet with a fairly steady rise to 6,600 feet at B Bar Ranch headquarters. The ranch is the highest deeded land in the Basin and is bordered by private land holdings, the Gallatin National Forest and Yellowstone National Park.

There are daily flights on several major airlines to Bozeman and Billings. Driving times from the airports are approximately two hours from Bozeman and three hours from Billings. Most major car rental companies operate at both airports.

Take I-90 to Livingston, MT (Exit # 333). Head South on U.S. Highway 89, following signs to Yellowstone National Park. Our turnoff from Highway 89 is 36 miles south of Livingston and 17 miles north of Gardiner. Turn west on Tom Miner Creek Road near mile marker #17. Cross the Yellowstone River on Carbella Bridge. Turn left at the 'T' and continue 8.5 miles to the B Bar Ranch entrance on the right side of the road. Continue another mile to ranch headquarters.

Because driving into the Basin in winter can be challenging or hazardous and because the ranch is not equipped to provide transportation or rescue services, we strongly recommend guests to use four wheel drive vehicles or utilize a shuttle service from the Bozeman airport.
